Our projects are deeply grounded in understanding our clients, their aspirations, time, cost, and quality objectives. We focus on getting the best ideas and design outcomes to fit a budget.

Working together we will explore your design with freehand sketching which are then transformed into 3D computer models for virtual reality walk-throughs. This allows creativity, collaboration, exploration, and transparency of design to take your notion* (idea) into visual and built form. See process for more detail.

We work on residential projects across New Zealand, with expertise in multi-unit developments, new bespoke homes, and alteration/addition projects. Each project is carefully designed to be responsive to specific site, brief and budget requirements.

Our Team

Bec Whiteman – Practice Manager

Staff Management, Operations, Systems & Process, Accounts

I am the office nerd! I enjoy setting up IT systems and building workflow processes.  This helps us to monitor efficiency, keep practice organisation and maintain quality/ Client communications. I am also involved insetting up client agreements, operations, technical support and day-to-day running, along with the other fun stuff! – Accounts, Payroll and Insurance.

Tom Whiteman – Design Director NZRAB, ARB-UK, ANZIA

Lead Architect, Design, Client interface, Project Management, Site Delivery

I have worked for 24 years post-graduation(back in Plymouth UK) in a range of small and large practices in both the UK and NZ. This has given me a broad base of experience on many different project types from inception to completion. I have always been passionate about striving for the best design outcome, whatever the project brief and budget. I worked for several years at Associate/Senior Associate level in a well-established global practice (with offices in Auckland)up to 2020 and was looking to expand my horizons. I wanted to take my skills inDesign, Project, and Practice Management to new levels. Notion was born!

As a smaller more flexible practice, we can now offer clients high impact designs and quality of service comparable (or better than) larger practices. You will get direct access to the lead PrincipalArchitect for design interface (rather than an assigned Project Architect) and take advantage of our unique service and competitive fees due to lower overheads.

Architectural concept modelling, detailing, and building consent plans

I began working at Notion Architects as a contractor in 2020. I have been involved in preparing conceptual drawings and documentation detailing of many residential projects from renovations to new-build multi-unit developments. I have a degree in Architecture & Planning and a passion for contemporary architecture. Apart from work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.
