The brief is for a new deck extension and façade remodel of this existing 1960s home. The site directly overlooks Howick beach with sea views to Waiheke Island beyond. The existing joinery and façade needed a facelift/ refresh and existing outdoor deck very small to capitalise on the great views.
The design responds to the site and brief with the following features:
· New deck addition to increase upper outdoor living, maximise views to Howick beach with sea views to Waiheke Island beyond. Glass balustrade to allow views and solid balustrade to provide privacy and frame up views
· Large expansive north facing deck for improved outdoor living.
· Indoor/ outdoor flow for living spaces to external deck
· Open plan living/dining/kitchen, stacker sliders to open-up to deck/outdoor living spaces
· Linea cladding on cavity and powder coat joinery/flashings. Simple materials and detailing in keeping with modern aesthetic
